how to cope during the season of perfectionism, anxiety and burnout

after the constant irritation and fiery passion i felt during leo season, i was ready for a calmer energy. my beloved virgo. my moon sign.

we are about half way through now and the anxiety is crippling, the pressure of perfectionism mounting. there’s not enough hours in the day to get everything done that i need to do.

today, saturday 6 september 2025, i woke up at 6:15am which is extremely unlike me, promptly got up and went to my work computer and worked for 4 hours with no break. no breakfast, just my kink is karma by chappell roan playing on repeat the entire time.

during those 4 hours, my jaw felt tight, my shoulders kept rising with each minute that passed, and my breathing was shallow.

was i required to work on my day off?

absolutely not.

but did i feel it necessary in order to hit all the work targets i have to this month with staff changes galore?

one hundred percent.

as a virgo moon, failure isn’t an option. being seen as inefficient, incompetent, useless, stupid or lazy by another would absolutely tank my self esteem. a huge part of my self worth is based on being good at what i do at work, knowing i bring value to my role, knowing i have meaningful contributions, and the respect of my colleagues.

of course, this need to succeed extends beyond work, but because so many of our 24 hours each day are spent working, it’s hard not to have our work personas impact the way we see ourselves and our value. we go to work to get paid – based on our value to the organisation or clients we work for.

for virgo’s, setting unrealistically high standards for themselves and others is second nature. during virgo season, it impacts all of us, especially those with strong virgo placements in their natal chart.

there’s a reason anxiety in inside out 2 was the sad villian of the entire plot of that movie.

so what can we do for the next couple of weeks to ensure we give ourselves grace?

  1. do fun activities! for me, i enjoy journaling, going to the arcade, going to the markets. these kinds of activities get you out of a space of overthinking and can balance your energy.
  2. go to a spa, get a massage or facial. i would particularly recommend something that includes a scalp massage as virgo is a very cerebral sign, as it is ruled by mercury.
  3. ask for help. whether it be at home, at work, it’s ok to ask for help. it doesn’t make you a bad person or a burden to rely on the people in your life. you don’t need to carry the heavy load alone all the time.
  4. repeat affirmations such as “i am enough”, “i am doing my best”, “i deserve rest” to train your mind into rest and relaxation. know that chasing perfectionism won’t actually make you happy.
  5. make time for rest, relaxation and calm. this might be the time to start meditating or to buy a new candle that makes you feel at peace.

i cannot stress enough how important self care is at this time. take care of yourself and let me know how you are coping so far ♥
